Simon
N Cellars imports wines from noted growers in every
region of France, as well as some fine winemakers in Virginia and California.
Many of these growers produce such small quantities that their names may be unfamiliar, so Simon N Cellars wanted their site to have some in-depth information about the wineries and to tell some personal stories about the winemakers, too.
The only thing they gave us was their product database. They had no print materials, or even a logo. They did have a lot of photos, so we set them up with a Flickr account so they were all on the web in handy place.
We created a warm color palette, used a lot of their photos for the rotating images at the top of each page, and found a lot of the content about the wineries on the web. The site makes extensive use of a database, which enabled us to present the information in some interesting ways. We also created a series of training screencasts which taught them to maintain it all in-house.
