drw Design: Portfolio

Fairness.com has built an extensive, heavily indexed and categorized database of thousands of articles on almost every conceivable fairness topic — legal, political, personal finance, consumer protection, family relationships, etc., as well as people, publications, and organizations involved in fairness-related work or controversies.

This was a redesign project.

The goal was to take an in-depth look at the user interface and create a design that would present a ton of content to the user in the most compact, intuitive, and useful way.

We created a fresh new color palette, designed a new logo, streamlined the navigation, cut down on the number of columns to give the content more room to “breathe”, re-organized the detail and resources pages, created icons, and generally gave the site a more friendly, professional, and print-like feel.

Here’s what the client said:

“I was very pleased with drw Design’s work on Fairness.com’s site redesign. Bottom line aspects—everyone who I’ve shown the design to has liked it. Debra came up with the idea of using the Blind Justice statue motif and found the really nice photo on Flickr that I think works so well (and arranged for my use of it to boot). My  programmer was impressed with her cascading style sheets—like the  design, simple and clean. No complaints about cost or delivery date.

“Debra also rates very high on the intangibles, for example: she was willing to do a few little tweaks and answer questions  long after the design work was finished, she spent a good amount of time making sure she understood the  site’s audience and goals, and I always felt she was doing her design  work with the “big picture” clearly in mind.

“I’m looking forward to working with her again and feel no compunction  recommending her to others.”
